We pick you up from your hotel by private car, which takes us to the trailhead at the base of Mount Picol, 4,400 meters (14,415 ft.) where we begin this amazing trek. It is a 30-minute ride from Cusco. The trek begins among pines and eucalyptus trees, by way of a challenging pronounced uphill slope, until we reach the first pass. Throughout the entire hike we’ll have a stunning panoramic view of the city of Cusco and the mountains that surround it. After the first pass, our route continues along the crest of the mountain. Impressive views of Andean valleys are always in sight. At this point, the uphill slope becomes more moderate until we reach our lunch spot. After lunch, the final part of the trail is easier, although still an uphill slope. This leg passes through picturesque llama and alpaca pastures. Finally, we begin our descent to the Huancacalle community where our ride back to Cusco will be waiting.
